Southeast Fire Centre Weather Services, says the month was unseasonably mild, and very eventful when it came to storms.

The amount of precipitation with both snow and rain was almost double the normal for January.

Measurable precipitation was recorded on 22 of the 31 days over the month.

The heaviest, 44.4 cm's of snow and 7.6 mm's of rain fell during a 48 hour period over the 23rd and 24th.

There were also new daily record maximum amounts recorded during 3 days in January.

It was the wettest January since 2006, and the greatest amount of snow recorded during a January since 1982.

Meanwhile the mean monthly temperature was 1.6 degrees milder than normal.
