Age Friendly Grants coming to Rossland, Salmo and Warfield
Rossland, Salmo and Warfield are three of the 10 communities in the interior set to get Age Friendly Grants.
Warfield is getting over 24-thousand dollars to create an Age Friendly Action Plan for the village.
In Rossland, they're creating a position for an Age Friendly Community Coordinator, with 15-thousand dollars in funding.
The coordinator will act as an advocate for seniors as part of larger ongoing projects like housing and transportation, to ensure their needs will be included in future city planning.
Salmo is already an age friendly recognized community, and they're also getting 15-thousand dollars for bridging the gap for seniors' involvement in the community, with many activities planned.
Minister of Health Adrian Dix says Seniors who are supported in their community, see their health improve, make strong connections and feel included.
