AKBLG Convention in Castlegar over the weekend

Delegates from around the region were in Castlegar over the weekend for the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Government Convention.

RDKB Chair and new AKBLG  President Roly Russell says it's a chance for communities to discuss the issues facing them, and take a unified voice to UBCM when it comes to resolutions.

He says there was 4 resolutions surrounding similar forestry related issues, including one on the oversight communities have over private lands, and having more security over old growth management areas, forests and watersheds.

According to Russell,  another big issue is the problem communities have when it comes to a structure surrounding reducing wildfire hazard on private land.

The Union of BC Municipalities is coming up in September.
