Arrow Lakes Hospital Emergency Redevelopment Project construction expected to start this Spring
The Arrow Lakes Hospital Emergency Department Redevelopment Project is closer to reality.
Interior Health has now released an invitation to bid for a general contractor to oversee construction, which is expected to start this spring.
Highlights of the project will include a dedicated triage area; two new trauma bays; renovated patient exam bays to improve privacy; new utility rooms; and an enclosed multi-purpose meeting room near the ED for family consultations or waiting space for family during trauma situations.
Detailed design of the upgrades to the hospital was done by Nelson-based Cover Architecture Collaborative Inc.
Construction is expected to take about a year, with work taking place in phases.
The project, which included direct input from hospital staff and physicians, is being funded through the Ministry of Health and the West Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital District.
