August slightly warmer and dryer than normal

Probably not a surprise that August was slightly warmer, and much dryer than normal.

Ron Lakeman, with Southeast Fire Centre Weather Services, says  the total monthly rainfall was only 9 percent of normal.

That didn't set a record thought, August 1967 still stands as the driest August on record, with only a trace.

The July August Total rainfall was 11 millimetres, slightly higher than the total for that time period in 2017, when there was only 9.8 mm's of rain.

The all time lowest for that two month period was 8.2 millimetres in 2003.

The hottest date of the month in Castlegar was 39.8 degrees on the 9th, it was also a new record maximum.
