Avalanche danger remains high
The avalanche danger is high in a number of spots around the region, including the Kootenay Boundary and South Columbia.
Public Avalanche Forecaster Mark Grist says they've been getting a lot of feedback from industry, professionals and the public on the danger.
He says the basis of the problem is two-fold.
Number one, the ongoing storms have created storm slab avalanches.
Number two, he says fundamentally the snowpack has several weak layers that have been problematic for a long time.
He says it's important residents take a look at bulletins on www.avalanche.ca, and when the danger rating is high, they recommend avoiding all avalanche terrain.
