Balanced budget for Kootenay Columbia School District
The Kootenay Columbia School Board is expected to pass their balanced budget on Friday.
They did the first two readings earlier this week.
Board Chair Terry Ferworn says they were able to use surplus from last year's budget to get things balanced in their almost 45 million dollar budget, and they're still waiting for a promised half a million dollars from the province, to hire new teachers after the BCTF court ruling.
But she says while they didn't have to cut anything this year, they've really had to cut to the bare bones over the past few years to get to this point.
Some good news, enrolment is up in the district, which positively impacts the budget.
