Busy few days for local search and rescue groups

Local Search and Rescue groups were part of a rescue early Monday morning.

They helped the Castlegar Fire Department, and Castlegar RCMP, in rescuing an injured subject from the forested hillside above Brilliant Dam.

At first light the subject was helicopter long lined out from the loose steep slope and transferred to ambulance.

The patient was taken to hospital.

No word on injuries, or how the incident happened.

Meanwhile the search for a missing kayaker Thursday was called off after two days.

Regional Swiftwater Technicians swept the river from air and ground.

Unfortunately, they were unable to locate the subject, and the search had to be postponed until further information is available.
