Caribou Conservation engagement sessions coming to West Kootenay
Caribou Conservation Engagement is coming to the Kootenays next week.
There are two community engagement sessions in Nelson and Nakusp, with a chance for residents to provide feedback on two draft agreements to conserve southern mountain caribou populations.
The draft agreements have been developed under section 11 of the federal Species at Risk Act, setting a framework for cooperation between the province and Federal government to recover the caribou.
Staff from the provincial and federal governments will share information about the draft agreements and feedback will help inform the final agreements.
The sessions are next Tuesday in Nelson at the Prestige, and next Wednesday in Nakusp at the Sports Complex, both from 5:30-9:30 pm.
