City of Rossland awards contract for Spokane Street Infrastructure Project

It's going to cost a bit more than expected when it comes to the City of Rossland's Spokane Street Infrastructure Project.

Mayor Kathy Moore says they only had one bidder, and the cost came in over budget.

The good news is it's Copcan Civil Limited, the same contractor who did the work on Washington and Columbia so they're known and trusted.

She says because the feds and province handed out so many grants around the province recently, there just aren't enough contractors to go around.

It also shouldn't affect the city's bottom line because they borrowed less than expected with the Washington Street project.

The bid came in at 5.3 million, the project cost is roughly 6 million, with 3.6 million coming from grant money.

Work includes roads, sewer, water and pedestrian amenities.
