Community Futures Central Kootenay looking for BC Rural Dividend Funding
Community Futures Central Kootenay is hoping for funding for a couple of projects around the region.
They're applying for money from the BC Rural Dividends Fund.
Executive Director Andrea Wilkey says it's a great opportunity for economic development projects, with the funds coming from the province.
They're looking for roughly 10-thousand dollars for a pilot project for a load board for the West Kootenay which is a way for businesses that need to move goods within, to and from region.
The idea is to post them kind of like a ride share, matching them up with carriers to make shipping more affordable and accessible.
They're also looking for roughly 100-thousand dollars in partnership funds to support marketing the Nelson Innovation Centre and the region as a hub for digital technology to attract entrepreneurs, workers, and investors to the region.
Wilkey says they're also exploring other funding options.
