Concerns around graduation rates for Kootenay Lake School District
The Kootenay Lake School District has come concerns when it comes to graduation rates in the district.
Superintendent Christine Perkins says last years results put them at a 69 percent graduation rate for all students in the district, including those identified with special needs, and aboriginal students.
She says there can be all sorts of factors.
They've been talking with the ministry to find out what's happening in terms of population.
They've had International and hockey programs, along with a transient population.
She says they're going to be bringing in some international experts for professional days over the next two to three years, as well as classroom based co-planning and co-learning with teachers in the district.
According to Perkins, SD 8 has a great teaching staff and students and they're confident results can be turned around quickly.
