Consulting contract awarded this week when it comes to 2nd access road at KBRH
The idea of a 2nd access road to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital saw movement this week.
Trail council awarded a 230-thousand dollar consulting services contract to True Consulting.
Mayor Lisa Pasin says it's a priority for council, saying the wildfire that happened last September showed them that maintaining flow to the hospital is important under any circumstances.
Pasin says they're going forward with the route design which will then come back to council.
The 2nd access road will go down by the Harbour House Facility, but the exact route is yet to be determined.
Once the scope of work is finalized it will go out to tender.
She says they're hoping the project will get under way in mid 2020, but they'll have to borrow so there will be an Alternative Approval Process in the future.
