Cooler weather good news when it comes to the fire season

While there are still fires around the region, conditions are improving according to a Southeast Fire Centre Information Officer.

Carlee Kachman says the cooler unsettled weather with rain is helping.

But crews are still vigilant, the fire behind the hospital in Trail isn't the only fire start recently.

Kachman says there have been 11 over the past 7 days, 5 are already out and 3 are under control.

She says it's an example of how initial attack success is high, and how crews are getting fires under control quickly.

They've had 442 fires around the region burning roughly 57-thousand hectares so far this year, a similar number in the amount burnt from the Summer of 2017, one difference though is this years more of the fires have been remote.
