Daylight Savings Time resolution going to AKBLG
The City of Grand Forks has a resolution on Daylight Savings time going to the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments meeting in April.
Councillor Christine Thompson says they're requesting UBCM petition the province to consult with the people of BC, with a view to abolishing Daylight Savings Time.
The issue sparked some debate at council this week.
She says so many of us believe it has to do with farmers getting extra daylight, but it actually came about during the world wars.
According to Thompson, research shows there are health effects with the change, with more heart attacks in the week following daylight savings, more people are sleep deprived, and even cattle farmers find cows natural milking schedules don't adapt well.
