Destination Castlegar looking at the positives in the community

The Destination Castlegar Marketing Coordinator met with council this week, focused on the value of tourism.

Andrea Ryman says there are a lot of great things happening in the community, including job creation.

She says there are over 650 tourism jobs in Castlegar and District, and there's a big economic impact.

At the Visitors Centre in Castlegar, they've seen over 7-thousand visitors come through over the past two years.

Ryman also says there's also a new kiosk at the West Kootenay Regional Airport manned by volunteers to help with visitor experience.

She's also excited about the website and social media platforms, where they've seen a big uptake, .

Meanwhile she says they continue to work with regional partners like Kootenay Rockies Tourism and Destination BC on initiatives.
