Enhanced programs and services on the way for WorkBC program

Enhanced employment services are on the way for residents in the Boundary, West and Central Kootenay.

Starting April 1st, The Kootenay Career Development Society will be the primary contractor for the new and improved WorkBC Employment Services Program, funded by the Province of BC, Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction.

Executive Director Jocelyn Carver says  the plan is to adopt a highly cooperative model, working with existing local providers whenever possible around the region.

The new WorkBC Employment Services program will enhance programs and services by increasing accessibility.

That includes extending centre hours, removing EI eligibility barriers, helping clients find better jobs if their hours are unstable or if the work is not aligned with their skills, and assisting clients to maintain their employment through job coaching.
