Events locally to mark National Day of Remembrance and Action to end Violence Against Women

There are a couple of local events to mark the  National Day of Remembrance and Action to end Violence Against Women.

It commemorates the Montreal Massacre at L'Ecole Polytechnique on this day in  1989, where 14 women, all but one of them students, where murdered.

In Nelson there's a Candlelight Vigil at City Hall at 4.

It's put on by the Violence Against Women in Relationships Committee who say the event  isn't just about about remembering but is about calling for change by supporting and valuing the lives of the people who are most impacted by violence.

In Trail there's a vigil at the Bridge View Cafe on Esplanade Avenue from 4:30-5:30.
