Food bank use around the Canada, and locally remains high
A National Hunger Count Report from Food Banks Canada shows that food bank use across Canada remains high, with 1.1 million visits to food banks across Canada in March 2018 alone.
The report show's who's most affected and where across the nation.
Overall the groups that remain high include children, single adult households, and Northern Canadians.
In Trail, the Salvation Army provides hampers and food to those who need it.
Pastor Nathaniel Hoeft says the numbers of hampers they give out weekly are up over last year.
They've also started a breakfast program on top of their lunch program that allows them to provide two weeks of lunches for children who need it.
Meanwhile Hoeft says they continue to look at ways to help the community, and in the future they're still looking for a new facility to further operations.
