Glade Ferry now in service
It's been in the works for a couple of years, but the new Glade Ferry is now in service.
District Highways Manager Hugh Eberle says the ferry was built out of the Nakusp Waterbridge Steel Yard and assembled at the Glade Site starting in the fall.
And he says residents and visitors will notice a difference, it's quieter, there's no impacts to motorists driving on or off the ramps, and it holds a fully loaded commercial vehicle.
Next up is the Harrop Ferry being built in Nakusp and assembled in Kaslo to be put into place later this Fall.
The Ministry of Transportation contracted Waterbridge to build 4 ferries at a cost of 28 million dollars.
