Glenmerry Elementary has been moved into Stage 2 of replacement

The Glenmerry Parent Advisory Council is cautiously optimistic.

Chair Lisa Babcock says it's been announced that the elementary school has  now been moved into Stage 2 of a replacement, not a renovation, so that means they've been moved from a large pool to a very small group of capital projects.

Babcock says a replacement is needed for many reasons.

The Kootenay Columbia School Board has to submit a Project Definition Report by the end of September to the Ministry, including things like why there's a need, the cost, benefit, risks, design concepts, and environmental reports.

She says it's estimated Phase 2 will take about a year, so they're looking at next March for a final announcement.
