Grand Forks Fire Department now in compliance with WorkSafeBC rules

The City of Grand Forks Fire Department has received a follow up inspection report from WorkSafeBC.

In April, WorkSafe Inspectors found 6 health and safety items that weren't fully compliant with current standards.

The department took steps to correct deficiencies, with four of the 6 items completed by the end of May, the final two were completed in June and are now in compliance.

Officials say it took three weeks to fully test each piece of fire hose to the standard specified by WorkSafeBC, and the volunteer Fire Department required a stand-alone Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee be established separate from the Committee which serves the City's regular staff.
