Grand Forks looking at their water rates
The City of Grand Forks has had water metres in the community for a while, and they've been doing mock billing...but that's going to change soon.
Mayor Brian Taylor says they're going to establish a base rate that everyone will pay, and then there will be an amount that's over and above that reflecting usage.
He says they're going by data they're gathering from other communities, they need to bring in enough money to pay for the service, and have some in reserve to replace or fix the system over time.
Taylor says he's not sure when the rates will be implemented.
Meanwhile the water metres have been a contentious issue in the community.
