High risk driving behaviors being targeted in May

ICBC and Police have launched a high risk driving campaign for the month of may.

Road Safety Coordinator for the region Christine Kirby says Speed Watch Volunteers in Rossland Trail, Castlegar, Grand Forks and Christina Lake will be set up to encourage drivers to slow down.

Police will also be targeting speeders, including a province-wide enforcement blitz on May 19th.

Kirby says high risk driving behaviours include distracted driving and running red lights.

On average in the Southern Interior, 42 people are killed every year in crashes involving high risk driving.
