Jobless rate down in the Kootenays
The jobless rate in the Kootenays was down year over year in July.
Last month there were 36 hundred people looking for work, a rate of 4.7 percent, compared to 6 percent in July 2018, where there were a thousand more people job hunting.
As for the number of people working this year compared to last, that number actually went down by 300.
Nationally, Canada lost 24,200 jobs last month and its unemployment rate moved up to 5.7 per cent to give the economy its weakest three-month stretch of job creation since early 2018.
