KERPA has a new three year patron partnership
The goal for the Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association, or KERPA, is to save lives, help critically ill and injured patients, and to support emergency services.
To that end, they've announced a new 3 year patron partnership to help them with their vehicle and medical equipment fund.
The IODE Kootenay chapter has made the pledge.
KERPA President and Founder Dr. Nic Sparrow says it's important funding, to help the volunteer organization keep their lights and siren vehicle able to respond to calls.
In the past 5 years, they've responded to more than 380 emergency calls, including motor vehicle collisions, cardiac arrests and overdoses.
While the model is a new concept to this province, the UK has had physicians responding alongside emergency services for 60 years..
Meanwhile KERPA has now officially been designated as a charity by the Federal Government's Canada Revenue Agency, which allows them to give tax deductible receipts for donations.
