Local events for National Day of Mourning
In 2016 there were a total of 144 work related deaths in BC.
Today those workers will be remembered.
April 28th is the national Day of Mourning with ceremonies to remember those who have lost their lives to work related incidents or occupational disease, and renew the commitment to creating healthy and safe workplaces.
Locally there are events in Castlegar, at 6 tonight at Kinsmen Park.
In Nelson the ceremony is at 12:15 at Lakeside Park near the Memorial plaques and concession stand.
The Trail ceremony starts at the USW Local 480 Hall, with the walk starting at 3:45, and the ceremony at 4 at the workers monument across from the arena.
