Local projects will see funding, thanks to Federal Gas Tax Funds

Some big projects around the region will get a boost thanks to Federal Gas Tax Funds.

The City of Trail will receive almost 1.16 million for the Trail Memorial Centre Arena Roof Replacement project.

The grant will cover the full estimated cost of the project, with work expected to start this April,

The City of Nelson will receive 1-hundred percent funding up to 6 million dollars for their Water Master Plan Supplementary Sources project.

The project will allow the City to funnel all of its existing water sources to the Mountain Station Reservoir where all residential water will receive UV treatment.  

The project will also act as a building block towards securing back-up water sources in the near future.

The RDKB will receive 217 thousand dollars from the Federal Gas Tax Fund to help pay for dam safety, part of of the Saddle Lake Dam Spillway project in Rural Grand Forks, with a portion of the funding to water system planning.

The RDCK is getting over 3 million for the Creston Community Park Upgrade which is the outdoor property at the Creston & District Community Complex.

The project includes a reconstructed skate park and revitalized playground.
