Loud party the start of unusual incident in Edgewood

An unusual incident in Edgewood, over the weekend.

On Saturday night, Police were called to a residence in the community, which is about an hour away from Nakusp, after receiving a complaint that a neighbour who was upset over a loud party, took matters into his own hands.

Police say the neighbour approached with a chainsaw and started to cut a hydro pole which provides power to the residence.

Individuals at the party physically intervened, and prevented the man from cutting down the pole.

Police arrived and arrested the man.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained as a result of the altercation with neighbours.

The 44 year old man is in custody, awaiting a court appearance tomorrow.

Yesterday, Nakusp RCMP were called back to the community, after a report that the residence of the 44 year old man was destroyed by fire, unfortunately a cat perished in the fire.

The cause of the blaze is unknown, and police are continuing to investigate.

While there's no confirmed link when it comes to the incident, given the timeline investigators will consider that.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers or Nakusp RCMP.
