Man facing arson charges after incident in Trail last week

A 34 year old man is facing arson charges, after an incident outside of the Gescan building in Trail last week.

RCMP say a fire was intentionally set.

RCMP conducted an investigation and identified an alleged suspect,  he was located and arrested near the area of the fire.

Police are still determining if there are any connections to the seven grass fires lit along Columbia Avenue on the Silver City Day Weekend.

Meanwhile Trail RCMP say they've been getting complaints of people throwing cigarette butts out of vehicle windows which is a big fire concern.

Anyone caught doing that can face fines.

In other news, Trail RCMP were called to a sudden death of a 60 year old man along the Columbia River near Bailey Street and Bay Avenue downtown early Sunday morning.

The death is not considered suspicious and the BC Coroners Services is investigating.
