Man recovered in the Kootenay River, after truck incident last May

Castlegar RCMP say it's been a very difficult and emotional investigation, but the man missing in the Kootenay River since last May after entering the river in his pickup truck, has now been recovered.

The recovery Friday lasted several hours and required the assistance of several partners due to the difficult conditions and rapid flow of water in the river.

RCMP say the recovery wouldn't have been possible without the efforts of the RCMP underwater recovery team, Silvertip Earthworks, Dam Helicopters, BC Hydro, Keegz Towing, Castlegar Search and Rescue, and Eric Anderson who piloted an unmanned aerial vehicle during the recovery.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is also investigating.
