Mobile Medical Unit coming to Kootenay Boundary in September
Kootenay Boundary residents will have a chance to check out BC's Mobile Medical Unit next month.
Clinical Operations Director Peter Hennecke says it's the only one of it's kind in Canada.
He says it's basically a mobile hospital on wheels, with everything you'd expect in an Emergency department including room for 6-8 stretchers.
Originally it was a part of the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics in Whistler, now it's part of the Province's Health Services Authority.
The unit can be deployed during disasters, emergencies, or even during hospital renovations.
He says while it could be used during renovations at KBRH or Arrow Lakes Hospital, so far that's not in the plans.
The mobile medical unit will be in Grand Forks at the Boundary Hospital September 10th from 10-2, and in Nelson at the Chamber September 13th from 10-2
