More smoke likely from Bulldog Mountain Wildfire west of Castlegar

Residents can expect more smoke from the Bulldog Mountain Wildfire.

Weather permitting, the BC Wildfire Service will conduct planned ignitions on the fire, 30 km's west of Castlegar..starting as early as today.

Smoke will be highly visible from Deer Park, Robson and Castlegar.

The work is meant to burn off forest fuels between established control lines and the fire perimeter, which helps with fire management efforts.

An evacuation order remains in effect for Renata and properties north of Deer Creek, with an alert still in effect for the Syringa Provincial Park and Deer Park areas.

Meanwhile a reminder, campfires are still banned for the Labour Day long weekend.
