Nelson police out with a warning after unconfirmed reports of overdoses in the community

Nelson police are out with a warning when it comes to drugs in the community.

Police say they've received information that a strong batch of opiate drugs has surfaced in the community over the past two weeks, being sold under the street name of vintage rose and appears as pink colour powder.

There are unconfirmed reports of a number of overdoses where several doses of Naloxone had to be administered.

Meanwhile police say members of the public should never touch a used syringe or any type of suspected drug they may find on the street.

Residents can call Nelson police or Fire Rescue if they find any type of drug material so it can be disposed of safely and properly.
