New buses and big projects on the way for Kootenay Columbia School District
The Kootenay Columbia School District is getting funding from the province for some big projects and bus replacement.
Superintendent Bill Ford says every year the board submits a Capital Grant Plan asking for big project money above and beyond routine maintenance.
Last year they asked for new buses, but didn't get approved.
It's a different story this year.
Ford says they're getting roughly 1.835 million dollars for 5 new school buses to replace aging ones, they got funding to replace the windows at Webster Elementary, and at Stanley Humphries they'll be doing an asbestos abatement project, and the schools flooring will be replaced.
He says projects will go out to tender for the work and projects should be done over the Summer, with buses on the road for the upcoming school year in September.
