New Emergency Response Vehicle for KERPA

The Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association now has an Emergency Response Vehicle.

KERPA is a non profit volunteer organization that sends a trained emergency physician to the scene of critical emergency calls, including car crashes.

Dr.  Nic Sparrow says the vehicle is now fully operational and able to respond to calls with lights and sirens, as part of a volunteer agreement with BC Emergency Health Services.

He says it doesn't really change the care that they're providing but it does mean they can get there in a safer manner, especially when there's a lot of traffic on the highways.

Sparrow says they're celebrating 5 years of volunteer physician response service in the Kootenays, responding to more than 360 emergency calls.

They'll be at the Crescent Valley fire Department Open House on Saturday from 10-2.
