New speculation property tax a concern for Boundary Similkameen MLA

So far it won't affect Christina Lake, but the Boundary  Similkameen Liberal MLA has some big concerns with the provinces new property tax targeting out of province owners.

Linda Larson says one of the measures in the recent BC Budget, was the introduction of a speculation tax, which would apply to owners who don't pay income tax in BC.

She says that could affect vacation homes, although so far it's only to be imposed on Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, parts of Vancouver Island, Kelowna and West Kelowna.

She says there are a lot of communities that have families that have come to their 2nd vacation home for generations, and this will make it unaffordable, which means communities could lose tourism dollars, and the tax base they have.
