No serious injuries after woman fell down a steep bank in Nelson
Fortunately no serious injuries, after an elderly woman fell down a steep bank in Nelson yesterday.
Nelson Fire and Rescue, police and a community response doctor were called out, at around 2 in the afternoon.
Emergency crews had to do a rope rescue.
The bank the woman had fallen down was approximately 40 feet.
Once the woman was assessed for injuries, a number of members were able to get down the bank, perform a spinal immobilization package, and retrieve the patient and rescuers with a rope system.
Nelson Fire Rescue is reminding residents to be cautious in potentially slippery conditions, especially with the thaw during the day and freezing overnight.
