Officials investigating cause of sulphuric acid release in Trail
The cause of a sulphuric acid release in Trail is under investigation.
A Westcan Bulk Transport Truck was driving from Teck Trail to the reload station in Waneta yesterday morning when the release occurred.
According to a statement, the release was quickly identified and an incident response team secured the area to assess the incident and begin the clean up process, with help from the Teck Emergency Response Team.
The cleanup was complete by 2 in the afternoon.
The company says there was no waterway or ground water contamination, and they don't expect there to be any long term health, safety or environmental impacts.
The equipment involved has been taken out of service.
