The RDCK and Recycle BC have come to an agreement when it comes to depots.
Chair Karen Hamling says originally Recycle BC had offered 7 depots, which wasn't enough for such a large region geographically.
They've now negotiated 12 core depots to be run by Recycle BC, but they'll have to be fenced, staffed and residents will have to be educated when it comes to keeping contaminants out of recycled products.
Hamling says it's good news because residents have been paying twice for recycling.
First when you purchase the product, and again through taxation through the regional district.
So far they haven't decided the locations of the 12 core depots, but they're expected to up and running sometime next year.
