RDKB making plans for Union of BC Municipalities Convention

The RDKB will be taking a few resolutions to the Union of BC Municipalities Convention in Vancouver in September.

They're going to be asking for additional provincial funding support to help with funding of staffing, compliance, and standards, and capital costs of BC Fire Departments.

They're also looking for more provincial funding for local government victim services, and the Development of guidance documents to better define the role of local governments in the review process.

That includes best management practices for forest management plan referrals from the forest industry and provincial agencies.

The RDKB is also hoping to have a few high level meetings at UBCM,  requesting to meet with the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General and Operations and Rural Development.

They're also hoping to meet with RCMP to advocate for allocation of Federal funds for RCMP drug enforcement & organized crime resources to the Kootenay Boundary.

They'd also like to talk to BC Transit about regional transit solutions for the Interior, and better transit solutions for those needing medical care at the larger centres.
