School Zones back in effect, with increased enforcement locally

RCMP

Expect to see local police out and about in school zones this week with increased enforcement.

Trail RCMP are reminding residents that starting today school zones will be in effect from 8am until 5pm, Monday through Friday on regular school days.

Some reminders, when you see a bus with flashing amber lights, you must slow down and prepare to stop.

When you see the red lights and stop signs, drivers have to stop until the school bus has completed it's pick up or drop off.

Don't attempt to pass the school bus at anytime during this process as it may result in serious injury or death.

The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is 368-dollars.

Failing to obey a school guard will cost you 167-dollars, and the fines for speeding in school zones range from 196-dollars to 483-dollars.
