Search continues for missing Castlegar man, after a vehicle plunged into Kootenay River Saturday
RCMP are searching for a missing Castlegar man, after a vehicle lost control on the Brilliant road and plunged into the Kootenay River.
Castlegar got a call from a hiker Saturday just after 2 in the afternoon.
The vehicle was completely submerged and there was no sign of the driver when RCMP, and the Fire Department arrived.
There was a dog in the truck that had jumped from the truck and made it to safety.
Search and Rescue teams searched the river and shorelines.
The RCMP dive team attended, but the flow of the river made it too unsafe to deploy divers.
The current was also too fast to use an underwater video camera.
Helicopter searches have been conducted but the water is too fast and deep to see the vehicle.
From witness accounts, there was one person in the vehicle.
So far police haven't released the man's name.
The RCMP, along with Search and Rescue continue to investigate and search.
