Search continues for missing Crawford Bay teacher

The search for a missing Crawford Bay teacher will continue today.

Four search dogs, an RCMP service dog, as well as a helicopter and 40 search and rescue technicians were on site yesterday, looking for 57 year old Alvin Dunic,  who's been missing since he set out Monday to look for a good spot for a class project.

Dunic's car was found about two kilometres away, at a trail leading to Crawford Creek.

Superintendent Jeff Jones says the School District has activated the Community Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) team which includes police, mental health, School District staff, with assistance from the Ministry of Education.

The team is working closely to determine levels of support that are required.

Counselling supports and additional staff have been made available at Crawford Bay School for students, staff, Mr. Dunic’s family and the community.
