So far Kindergarten numbers look positive in the Kootenay Columbia School District

It looks like Kindergarten numbers will be up for the next school year in the Kootenay Columbia School District.

Superintendent Bill Ford says it looks like they're up about 30 kids from last year, but it's still preliminary.

Although he says numbers look promising.

He says over the last couple of years they've still had more Grade 12's graduates than kids going into Kindergarten, but that's levelling out.

Overall from k to 12 over the past few years they've seen small increases across the board which has been a good news story after decades of declining enrolment.

Meanwhile the budget process for the district is expected to kick into high gear after Spring Break...they're waiting for the Ministry's funding announcement which comes over the break.
