Sovereign Medal for Volunteers for Tarrys volunteer firefighter
A Castlegar area man was in Victoria last week to receive a Sovereign Medal for Volunteers.
Peter Pereversoff is one of 40 BC residents to receive the award, recognizing exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country.
He's been a volunteer with the Tarrys Fire Department for almost 12 years.
Pereversoff says it can be fun, it's also a serious thing, and it's not for everybody, but he loves doing it.
A press release says he's one of the first people to sign up for any fundraiser or training, is always available to help someone in need, and he often uses his own vehicle and first responders emergency kit to help accident victims.
Pereversoff was awarded the sovereign medal last Thursday.
