Spill reported near Kaslo
A spill near Kaslo has been reported.
Interior Health was informed of the spill of up to 17 barrels of bilge water contaminated with marine fuel.
While the exact location of the spills haven't been determined, initial reports suggest of the risk of contamination on Back Road between Highway 31, North to Kaslo West Road.
At this time IH says they're not aware of any impact on public drinking water systems.
The local public drinking water operators are notified about the incident and they continue to monitor the situation.
IH is advising owners of properties with private water intakes adjacent to that area to monitor their water for any signs of fuel contamination, like a sheen on the surface of the water or a smell.
If there are signs, residents should avoid using the water.
No word on how the spill occurred.
