Tax increase likely in Rossland, with arena repairs and improvements added
Rossland Council passed the 1st reading of their budget this week.
Mayor Kathy Moore says at this point the municipal portion of the taxes in Rossland will increase by 4.8 percent.
She says it was going to be lower, but they've had to budget an extra 200-thousand because of the repairs and improvements needed for the Rossland Arena to open in the Fall due to WorksafeBC requirements.
They're also looking for grants and other funding opportunities.
Meanwhile she says the Municipal Auditor was at their meeting this week, and said their 2017 financial report was in great shape.
