Teck Resources says it was a power outage, not a fire, that triggered alarms at Teck Trail

It may have looked like a fire, but Teck Resources put out a statement on Twitter last night, saying it was a power outage that occurred at Trail operations triggering audible alarms.

Contrary to some reports, Teck officials say there was no fire at the operation and no risk to public safety.

Crews were responding late last night.

The incident was over just before 1,  the power is back in place and the plant is returning to normal operations according to Community Relations Leader Catherine Adair.

She also says  community air monitors indicated that SO2 remained below permit and within normal variability.

A full investigation into the incident is underway.
