Two New Denver bridge replacement projects starting soon

The New Denver area will see a couple of bridge replacement projects over the next few months.

The existing two-lane timber Lyle Creek and Whitewater bridges on Highway 31A will be replaced with modern, concrete and steel two-lane structures.

The new bridges will have 1.5-metre-wide shoulders and bicycle railings to improve safety and mobility for all users.

Before construction on the new crossings can begin, temporary single-lane detours will be built at both locations.

The Lyle Creek detour is expected to be in place by the end of June, with the Whitewater Bridge construction detour in late July.

Both will have minor delays during construction.

Both permanent bridges are expected to be open to traffic by the end of October
